Justin Weigel, O.D.

Dr. Weigel is a 2007 graduate of Illinois College of Optometry.  After graduating from ICO, Dr. Weigel moved back to Kansas and partnered with Dr. Neal Troyer to open a cold start private practice, Insight Vision Center, in 2008.  To help supplement and grow Insight Vision Center along the way, Dr. Weigel worked in many facets of corporate optometry as well, as an independent OD at Wal-Mart, Target, and Costco locations. 

With continued work to grow the private practice side of their business, Insight Vision Center soon grew into a 5 location private practice brand across the Kansas City area in the span of about 10 years’ time.  During that period of time, Insight Vision Center became a member of the Vision Source community and utilized the resources of independent doctors to help fuel their growth. 

With the landscape in private practice and alliance groups beginning to change, Insight Vision Center was approached by Private Equity and became a part of Acuity Eyecare Group, (whose founding partner was the original Vision Source partner) in September of 2019. 

Looking to bring things full circle and help grow the private practice community that was their driving force for becoming Optometrists, Dr. Weigel and Dr. Troyer are looking to use their journey through the many facets of optometry to begin another chapter in this story with EyeCare Republic, an Alliance group that is positioned to help more independent OD’s in their journey along the way.   

Dr. Weigel currently resides in Olathe with his wife, Jen, who is a Neonatal ICU nurse at Children’s Mercy, 2 sons, Camden and Beckett, and daughter Brielle. Dr. Weigel enjoys taking time to run with his 2 dogs and kids and is an avid sports fan who closely follows the Jayhawks during football and especially basketball season.
